Labour overturned in Crewe Retail sales gives Sterling strengh

Bi - Election

Overnight saw the results for the Crewe and Nantwich By-Election and it appears Labours grip is starting to loosen as the conservatives took a victory by over 8000 votes.

This will be a huge blow for Gordon Brown and it appears that 'New Labour' is fast becoming old news.

Retail sales

Yesterday we saw better than expected retail sales figure released for the U.K which saw a slight improvement for Sterling which is great news for those of you with upcoming currency requirements, although even though the data was better than expected it was still rather poor, so don't expect the rates to zoom back up again any time soon.

Oil Prices

As i'm sure many of you are aware oil prices have soared this year now hiting over $135 per barrel. Rising oil prices can make the Dollar weaker and as regular readers will know this can strenghen the Euro so if you do have something coming up be aware we have some rocky times ahead.
