Sterling report and forecast against a basket of major currencies - early morning strength

Sterling has started the day off on a slightly more positive note making minor gains against most major currencies in early morning trading.

It is certainly refreshing to see green screens in the offices following the past few days of Sterling dropping away off the back of comments from Mervyn King and a huge drop in confidence in the Pound.

It appears confidence may be returning in the U.K with the FTSE being at its highest point in a year, so avoiding further shock announcements from King or Mr Darling then I would hope we gain back ground towards the end of this week.

Retail sales datya are due at 09:30am, expect volatility should these figures come out different than analysts have forecast.
