Sterling strength ahead of BOE minutes and unemployment data exchange rate news Euro Dollar Swiss Franc Swedish Krona South African Rand

This morning the Pound has started to climb against a basket of major currencies ahead of a few key data releases of note being the Bank of England minutes and also unemployment data both due out this morning.

The minutes should confirm how many members of the BOE were in favour of halting the current QE also how they plan to tackle inflationary issues going forward.

Unemployment figures are expected to look deceptively healthy due to the number of people forced to take on part time jobs in the U.K

Should this be the case and figures come out better than expected then we may see Sterling strength throughout the day.

U.S Federal Reserve Minutes

Like its UK equivalent, the US Federal open Market Committee minutes are sure to cause ripples for the world’s largest economy.

They may give an insight as to if or when the US is able to start raising interest rates which is likely to impact on the price of the Dollar. Since many commodities are priced in the greenback this has huge significance for various market sectors and may affect a currency pair you had not considered.

With gold being priced in Dollars, and South Africa being the world’s largest single producer of gold, as the Dollar rate changes, so does the amount of gold investors can afford, and therefore the ZAR strengthens or weakens as a result.

As you can see the impact of the US information out this afternoon doesn’t only affect clients looking at buying or selling Dollars directly but also those clients looking at a range of other currencies.

Sterling exchange rates forecast and report - Greece to headline the week?? Euro Dollar Rand

Once again good morning and I hope you had a great weekend!

Another interesting week ahead with releases regarding the Greek bailout package probably being the main talking point to start the week off, thuis could push the market either way dependant on what comes of it and it is so important to be on the ball this week as the release could come at any time and could have a huge effect on exchjange rates.

Also this week we see the release of some key inflation data tommorow for the U.K - The last set of inflationary datacame out higher than expected and led to Sterling strength against a basket of major currencies so it is certainly one to keep an eye on. High inflation is generally battled by raising interest rates and a hike in interest rates is generally seen as positive for the currency concerned.

On wednesday of this week it is time for the Bank of England minutes from the last interest rate decision and will show exactly how much support there was behind ending the Quantitative Easing programme so once again may lead to volatility.

Sterling still falling despite Greek woes - Bailout package due to be confirmed later on Euro, Dollar, Pound, Rand and more currency forecast

Sterling has continued its freefall again against the Euro, U.S Dollar, Australian Dollar, New Zealand Dollar, South African Rand and many more major currencies.

Many will have thought that the Pound would have gained against the Euro of late but the main thinking is that should the Euro Zone as a whole group together and bail out Greece and other failing economies then who is going to be there to save the U.K????

This has led to the Pound falling not sharply but gradually and a bailout package is expected to be announced before the end of the day.

Last time this all came about the Dollar weakened as investors found more confidence in the Euro as they proved they can withstand these sort of problems.

They in turn pulled funds from the Dollar and gold (priced in Dollars) and put it into the perceived 'riskier' Euro in order to attempt to gather a higher return.

Sterling movements ahead of pre budget report - Exchange rate against dollar euro swiss franc swedish krona south african rand

Sterling has had a mixed start to the day with consumer confidence coming out slightly better than expected and trade balance figures a little worse

Upon entering the office Sterling had lost ground against a basket of major currencies however we have recently seena fightback over the past hour or so.

All eyes will now be eagerly awaiting the pre budget speech and what Alistair darling has to say - following the pattern of 2009 pretty much every time Mr Darling speaks Sterling tends to tumble so will things be different today????

I believe we should know more by lunchtime so check back later for information on what was said and any rate movements that have resulted from them.

Sterling exchange rate news currency information for upcoming transfers overseas - buy or sell euro dollar Swedish kroner Swiss Franc, Yen Rand

Sterling has taken a tumble in early morning trading due to much worse than expected industrial and manufacturing production, alongside worse than expected house price data.

At the time of writing this post Sterling has slipped 0.47% against the Euro, 0.34% against the Dollar, 0.46% against the Australian Dollar, 0.72% against the New Zealand Dollar, 0.54% against the Rand and 0.43% against the Swedish Krona.

This is all down to data coming out worse than expected as mentioned above and is not great news for the Pound however there is plenty more data out during the week that may affect the cost of any upcoming transfers.

The rest of the day is reasonably quieet unless any unexpected announcements come out that hint at potential QE (Quantitative Easing) decisions at the Bank of England interest rate decision due out on Thursday - should they mention further QE we could see Sterling lose ground and should they mention that it could come to an end then we could see Sterling strength.

Alongside this we have consumer confidence due out overnight and the pre budget speech and trade balance figures tommorow so it is imperative that you keep a close eye on the market to maximise your transfer.

If you do not have time to then contact me and I will happily do it for you to the best of my ability.

The Pound loses value following Kings speech

Once again just as Sterling looks like it is moving in the right direction, Mervyn King has come out to talk down the U.K economy leading to Sterling weakness accross the board losing 1% against the Dollar, 0.86% against the Euro and the biggest loser of the day being 1.81% against the South African Rand!!!

King said that the economy is probably on the road to recovery however the recovery would be slow and risks to inflation are still to the downside.

Former member of the MPC David Blanchflower also blasted the way in which King handled potentially the worst recession since world war two, this unrest added to Sterlings woes.
